Response to Blog post by a teacher.

I think this blog post is very accurate and I agree to it.  The teacher is saying the truth that school isn't about learning.  That even him as a teacher knows it's not about learning.  "The main event" of school is to push yourself in all areas, not only academics.

Blog Post of the Day:
3 day weekend... how was it? Give me a good story or something funny that happened this weekend. Go.

Over the weekend I caught up on sleep and homework.  I started the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and got more than half way through the first season in one day.  I also had my first hamburger since the beginning of lent.  My family and I also went out to a nice dinner to celebrate my parents 19th wedding anniversary.  I ended my weekend by having my two softball games canceled.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement. Elaborate on why you agree of disagree.

If images are on the internet they should be "free game".

I agree and disagree to some extent.  If an artist puts a piece of work online, I don' think it's right to take it and claim it as your own.  I definitely think credit should be given in the form of a citation.  On the other hand I think photographs of animals, food, or any other generic topic should be fair game.

Reflect on your resume website.

I am very proud of my resume website.   I feel like it is very in depth and shows a lot about who I am.  I learned that they can be very useful in the world of business.  If I were to do something differently, I would add more visuals to my site or make it more hands on.  I really like the idea of a resume website and might use it in the future.

What's the coolest thing you've learned in Web Design so far? Why is it so cool and how can it help you in the future?

The coolest I've learned in web design is how to make a resume website.  They can be very helpful in the future.  You can use then to apply for jobs and even college.  I like the fact that the whole web site is on one page.

Blog Post of the Day:
Define 'User Experience'. What does it mean and how does it relate to web design? Explain yourself.

Without Google I thought user experience meant just what you might think.  It's about how the user or viewer perceived the website.  Google gave me this definition, "User Experience: involves a person's behaviors, attitudes, and emotions about using a particular productsystem or service."  When you relate it to web design it is about designing the website so the user feels some sort of way, whether it's to feel happy, scared, or even confused.  One of the main things you should think about when making a website is how the user will experience it.

Blog Post of the Day:
What is a resume website? What do people put on resume websites. Spend about 5-10 minutes looking up resume websites and what they are used for. Explain what you find. Include an image of a resume website if possible.

A resume website is a website a person makes about themselves to tell others about their accomplishments, skills, and creativity.  The can be given to possible employers to show them everything about yourself.  They are very helpful when looking for a job. Many peoples resume sites included a picture of themselves, past work experiences, and the extent of their education.  The picture I provided is Robby Leonard who is a creative person who showed his skills by using a video game theme to tell about himself.

Who do you look up to in your life? Why do you look up to them? Tell me about them and some of their characteristics that you admire.

I look up to Enrique Iglesias because he is Latino and very successful.  When he first started preforming he felt pressure to conform to society and sing in English, but now he sing in Spanish, and it' s great.

Tell me about your weekend.
Over the weekend i participated in Relay for Life.  I stayed the whole night and didn't fall asleep once.  Because of the lack of sleep, it messed my sleeping schedule up.  I slept until 5:30 pm on Saturday, Slept 12 hours that night, and then had a 4 hour nap on Sunday.

If you were the Principal for a week at BVHS, what would that look like? What changes would you make? Why?

If I were principle for a day, I would allow  for a recess/ nap period every day.  I feel like kids would be more refreshed and able to focus longer in class knowing that there is a nap/recess period coming up.

I feel like right now the school system is not about learning, but about making the grade.  I understand the concept of core classes, but i think there is too much time spent on that instead of other interests.  I know i want to be in the medical field when i am older, so i would rather be taking classes having to do with medicine, that a social studies class.

Color can convey a lot of emotion when it comes to designing anything from a product to a website to an advertisement to a logo and so much more. What do you think the importance of colors on a website are? What is a color scheme and why is it important to have when designing? Explain any thoughts you might have around color in design.

Colors on a website are very important.  They set the mood for the whole web page.  Color scheme is the set of colors that you can use sort of as a theme.  It is important because it helps organize the appearance of  something.

Think about the quote above. What does this mean to you? How could this apply to your life? How could this apply to your school work (especially Web Design!)?  I would love to give you less work in class if it meant you were going to focus harder on the work. Do you think you would get more out of it? Would that work for you? Why or why not?

To me this means quality over quantity. I agree with this quotes in some aspects of my school life.  A lot of the times we are given a huge amount of work with only minimal time, so quality over quantity isn't always possible.  I feel like when possible quality is more important, but it's not always in place.  In web design I think I could apply this by having a nicer website instead of three average websites.

A website wireframe is the screen blueprint.  It's a visual representation that depicts the skeletal framework of the website. I can use it in web design to see what my website I built, would look like.  It can show you colors, sizes and shapes.

What do you find the most confusing and frustrating part of web design and HTML code so far? What would make it easier? What don't you understand? What do you understand? Explain yourself.

I think the most frustrating part of web design so far, is how case sensitive Codecadamy and HTML/CSS can be.  I think it would make it easier if I took my time more so than I have been. I do understand most everything that we are doing and there isn't anything I am extremely confused about.  The styling is my favorite because it is straight to the point, but inserting a picture with a link gets pretty confusing.

What are your thoughts on this class so far? Easy? Hard? Informative? Frustrating? What have you learned so far? What do you want to learn? Explain yourself.

So far in web design i have learned a lot.  I have made a blog, and i have continued to post on it daily.  I find some of the coding very frustrating and have fallen behind at times.  Even thought HTML can be hard, I think it's very interesting to be able to see what makes a website, and to be able to change it.  I'm looking forward to the rest of the semester and continuing to make more blog posts.

Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

I strongly agree with John Tapene's words. I feel that he has put this idea of living and this idea of what we, as kids, owe the world in very strong, accurate words.  This outlook is very motivational and does make me want to do the things he is suggesting.  I like the idea that everyone is needed and wanted by this earth, and I like this passage.
